Since 2013 Careers in Football has worked with professional football clubs to provide support for players (from U10 to first team). This support has included workshops, one-to-ones, action plans for players and work experience.
OUR WORK IN PROFESSIONAL CLUBS
QUOTES FROM CLUBS
“Toby delivers a careers workshop which is innovative, creative and impacts on the boys thought process about other potential career avenues within or outside the industry. The session is delivered in such a way that the boys don’t lose sight of their main aim and career goal, Toby encourages the boys to plant a seed which allows them to think about a potentially wider future during their careers.”
Stephen Walker England U19 said “Toby’s session on careers was the favourite workshop during my apprenticeship, he helped me to see a bigger life picture without losing any focus on my dream to be a professional footballer”.
Barry Dawson - Head of Education at Middlesbrough FC
“Careers in Football provided outstanding sessions to our players at Sunderland AFC. The ability to grip players’ attention and the variety and speed of each session allowed our players to reap the rewards of Premier Futures workshops. We should be ensuring that all players are developed holistically and these workshops aim to do just that. We definitely would like to see a continued relationship between Careers in Football and Sunderland AFC”.
Dr Michele Di Mascio - Head of Player Care at Sunderland AFC
“Having completed some research and attending meetings with external companies, we selected Toby and his Careers in Football session as an integral componetn of this seasons delivery. Right from the word go, Toby knew what he was talking about, having had experience in delivering such sessions to Premier League clubs and their academies. In addition, he got the limitations that we work in, day in, day out; the players don’t think about tomorrow, never mind have an idea of what career they would like to pursue or be open to the idea of not playing for a living.
Toby tailored his presentation and the learning points within it to cater for this and still achieve his objective of engaging the players in the first instance. Consistently linking the sport and its athletes to the wider world to achieve the ‘buy in’ that is so important with groups such as these. Overall, the session was a success and has given us much food for thought on how we can improve this further still and support our players for seasons to come, with the help of Toby and Careers in Football.”
